I will be trying out a few different "textures" on the next few MACRODONS as studies for the new toy concept I am developing. This is the final body shape, as can be seen further developed and in various angles in the past few posts.

Same as before, to clean up the design, I inked the outlines of each figure.

I took one of the figures from the previous set of illustrations and began fleshing it out some -trying to figure it out three-dimensionally.

I have tightened up each figure with an ink outline.
The shape I am aiming for becomes a little more clear here.

For the next few posts I am going to try and work out a new MACRODON toy/sculpture. So here are the some rough conceptual sketches in pencil.

117+118 REVISITED

I re-worked and completely fleshed out #'s 117+118 since at the time all I managed to do was lay down their silhouettes. As you can see, they are illustrations of two of the MACRODON series 1 figures:

156 STEP BY STEP

Here is the step-by-step progression for the illustration of this MACRODON
(final version seen above).



1- Once I laid down the black silhouette shape I Instantly got an idea of what this MACRODON should look like, I didn't want to loose my idea by over-working it, so I penciled in some loose sketch elements, and then scanned the concept drawing into the computer:


2- At this point I sketched further details of this MACRODON on Photoshop with my drawing tablet and a large brush.



3- I continued to sketch the MACRODON figure with strokes with a variety of widths, some overlaying, and then decided to complete the illustration based on this stage of of my sketching. (4- final version seen at top of post)



5- And finally, since I was still quite attached to how the digital sketches looked, I formed this composite, with a scan of the final drawing and some overlays of the digital sketches.

I've been re-watching some LOST lately, so maybe you can see that I drew this MACRODON with the "smoke monster" in mind... season 5 starts tomorrow at 8c.
