What is aarting? Aarting is a Contemporary Art brand located in New York. Aarting exists to create high quality, limited edition art products from designs submitted and chosen by its members. Aarting is a true Democratic art form- one that is of, by and for the people.
Aarting's previous toy design is the 'Blankie' -designed for a competition to customize the figure, see the winning designs for series 1 & series 2 (soon to be released).
Also, the aarting blog is full of amazing design, art, toys, fashion, technology, etc... so check it out!
this drawing is really rough, but I really liked the half-way-there unfinished state it is in; the design is pretty clear, and just leaves a few things left to resolve. (i.e. is that a hole or an eye? Xenon?)
standard Moleskine paper is pretty lousy. The ink had bled through the last drawing so much I just sort of went with the smudgy shape already happening, and ended up with a melting squid-like MACRODON figure...
another of my recent faves, after making a clay sculpt of "BOGEY", I really liked the idea of 3-legged MACRODONS, and in this case, I think it would be almost symmetrical.
déjà vu, I really feel like I've made this exact drawing before... and maybe I have. I need to go through the last year of MACRODONS again and see how many drawings turned out to be repeats, known, or unknown to me (?)
xenon 1) 1898, from Greek, "foreign, strange," coined by its discoverer, Scottish chemist Sir William Ramsay (1852-1916) 2) 'vacuum' -properly a loan/translation of Greek, 'xenon,' lit. "that which is empty." Meaning "a place emptied of air" is attested from 1652.
as it can be seen, this MACRODON ended up with a more tubular variation on the skinny arm I started with, and I wanted to do something a bit different with his legs, so this will be the first MACRODON sculpt with 3 legs!)
MACRODON #367 -nicknamed 'CROM' -final version. (I don't usually name each MACROODN, but I may start)
above is the unedited photo of the clay sculpt, the image at the top was edited to have a cool gray color, for a 'blank' uncolored neutral look. And below, I had a bit of fun testing some solid colors I liked:

Today marks the one-year anniversary for the MACRODON sketch-blog -which now includes way more than 365 MACRODON drawings, 425 posts, and many other random musings sometimes MACRODON related, sometimes not... whew!
+ "one to grow on" with MACRODON #366 and it's tentacled arms, above...
As made evident in the last few posts, I went off on my ♥ for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and specifically the disembodied brain, Krang, the villain from Dimension X.
But, let's not forget ♥April O'Neil♥ -who was probably pretty high up on the list in my 8 year-old brain, as a reason to watch TMNT (as if martial arts, weapon wielding, humanoid, wise-cracking turtles in battle with weird aliens and mutated monsters wasn't reason enough)
My recent obsession with TMNT's Krang led me to many amazing finds, first is Speedlee'scustom Krang & Android toy -visit his site to see many more awesome customs, including several more custom Ninja Turtles toys.
it seems NECA announced several forthcoming Ninja Turtles toys. Here is a closeup of their version of Krang.
searching the web for "Krang" yielded this clever version of Krang + walker in LEGOS! by oneosendai2600
And lastly, paperfoldables.com has a fantastic downloadable PDF to make your very own foldable Krang + android, click! download! make! *and if anyone is clever enough to make a foldable MACRODON, that would be pretty freaking awesome!
Krang, also has a large humanoid body to move around in, it looks like a beefy plasticized neanderthal from the future with 1980s shades, a forked antennae, and with a compartment in it's mid-section for Krang. I didn't want to be too literal, so this is my interpretation of that TMNT villain as a MACRODON.
Krang, from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon is just a brain (a brain with a face, and wierd tentacles) so, how does he get around? In adition to his mini legs (seen in last post), he also has a sort of walker, so again, in the spirit of MACRODON-izing Krang once again, I extended his body into the form of his walker device.*it looks like Krang want's to color MACRODONS with his purple crayon.
here is the Krang-walker in all it's plastic glory:
