APW NYC Gallery: Custom Toy Exhibit

Opening this Friday, April 3rd @ APW NYC, marks the first custom toy exhibit at APW's new location and will include 100's of toys from many artists. Included in the exhibition are three new MACRODON figures (pictured above). So, if you are in the New York area be sure to stop by and check it out! MACRODON sightings are very rare, and this promises to be a fun show!

this is the first completed figure from the designs for #157
(here is the piece in progess)

this is the painted plastic figure of illustration #193,
from the cast of the clay sculpt, from design concept #159

and this last MACRODON is a new version from "series 1"
(some still available on Etsy + @ A.Okay Official)

157 CLAY SCULPT

Here is one of the new MACRODON figures I am working on, from the designs for #157. It will have movable appendages once cast in plastic (it was really freakin' hard to figure out!). Below you can see the joints and sockets in place, and the subtle texture I gave this MACRODON (I wasn't crazy about most of the texture studies I did for this figure, so I went with something simple for the time being).

So, no drawing today, well, maybe later.

this MACRODON design, with #159, birthed several variations
for the design of a new MACRODON toy/sculpture.

I particularly like this design, it appears both super-muscular, wrinkly, and with an impossibly skewed center of gravity.

-these next few MACRODONS start to differ more significantly from the design of #157 I decided on for the next toy design.
