NEW YEAR

Thanks to everyone who supported me in the recent aarting designer toy competition -the winning design is of merit, so congrats to the winner. Regardless, I still plan on producing the MACRODON figures soon... so, until next time!

After a bit of a break these holidays I will be making semiregular updates to the MACRODON blog, 1st up, 500X EXPO 2010, more to come...

What is aarting? Aarting is a Contemporary Art brand located in New York. Aarting exists to create high quality, limited edition art products from designs submitted and chosen by its members. Aarting is a true Democratic art form- one that is of, by and for the people.

Aarting's previous toy design is the 'Blankie' -designed for a competition to customize the figure, see the winning designs for series 1 & series 2 (soon to be released).

MACRODON 'XENON' -toy design

MACRODON #369 -'XENON' -final version.

1) 1898, from Greek, "foreign, strange," coined by its discoverer, Scottish chemist Sir William Ramsay (1852-1916)
2) 'vacuum' -properly a loan/translation of Greek, 'xenon,' lit. "that which is empty." Meaning "a place emptied of air" is attested from 1652.

as it can be seen, this MACRODON ended up with a more tubular variation on the skinny arm I started with, and I wanted to do something a bit different with his legs, so this will be the first MACRODON sculpt with 3 legs!)

above is the unedited photo of the clay sculpt, the image at the top was edited to have a cool gray color, for a 'blank' uncolored neutral look. And below, I had a bit of fun testing some solid colors I liked:
