070 - TRANSFORMATION
In this most recent phase of transformation the subject has developed 2 more additional appendages, and the "upper body" has been radically distorted, now leaving behind most if not all of its previous humanoid characteristics.
See illustration 013 for another MACRODON with significant cephalopod-like characteristics -potentially the next phase in the transformation of this MACRODON.
069 - TRANSFORMATION
TRANSFORMATION II: The subject Macrodon has developed 2 additional appendages. The appendages do not appear as rigid as in the earlier state. The subject is no longer clearly identifiable as humanoid, but is now in a state of flux, transitioning to a cephalopod-like appearance.
068 - TRANSFORMATION
Due to Halloween costume preparations I fell off the drawing wagon the past few days, so again, here are 3 drawings, for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
This drawing retains most of the previous linework from the underdrawing, with only some definition around the figure, and editing out unwanted marks.
I conceptualized these 3 drawings as the transformation of this particular Macrodon. Here appearing somewhat humanoid.

063
It looks like this Macrodon ended up with one bulked up lobster claw, and one skinny, rubbery, alien appendage.
Tonight I saw a pretty good painting show by Dan Perfect at Road Agent. The work is fun, vibrant, energetic, chaotically cohesive, and as visually disparate as those last two descriptors, combining a cartoon aesthetic with a design conscious stream of consciousness abstract expressionism take on urban street art. Just follow the links, and you'll see what I mean.
At The Public Trust, Brent Ozaeta shows acrylic screenprints on canvas and paper, depicting sketchbook-style illustrations, combining various drawing styles in an almost collage fashion. The highlights include a series of printed works crudely sewn together like a quilt, as well as a free standing wall repetitively plastered with posters of the same line drawings and cartoons.
063 = PREVIEW
This is the beginning of #063, I'm not sure what was going on with the old drawing, and not entirely sure what is going on with this drawing so far; there is a hint of a claw or two in there, something unprecedented for a Macrodon, I think. It is getting late now... I'll finish it in the morning, maybe.

062 + VARIATIONS
I noticed, most (if not all) MACRODONS don't have very prominent feet, so this one is inspired by the PUMA shoe exhibit at DWR, and my designs for a MACRODON PUMA RS-100.
I was conflicted about giving this one arms... so I made some arms I could add or remove, painted on paper attached to a piece of clear acetate.
And also, my wife said something about "The Thinker", so I had some fun with that too. The removable appendages (and accessories):
(with arms, above)
("The Thinker", above) No disrespect to Rodin, but I'd like to think his work has a certain influence on my interpretation of a MACRODON.
And, at this point, the silly is on, going full circle, back to the PUMA sneaks:
With shoes this sick why would a MACRODON not wear shoes?
MACRODONS FOR PUMA
At the DESIGN WITHIN REACH studio in Dallas you can see an exhibition of custom PUMA sneaker designs, my contribution was a MACRODON themed RS-100 sneaker as you can see (click for a larger view of the designs):

059
This MACRODON looks like a rhinoceros wearing a MACRODON suit.
This is the first of the drawings on a drawing that kept most of the original design, so I decided to included a scan of the the "under-drawing" this time.

055
I discovered older, abandoned drawings in this sketchbook, before the time of the Macrodons. So for the next few dozen pages or so, I will be drawing over those drawings, and this is the first one of those drawings.
Also, tonight I went to see some sharp new screen-prints by Brian Gibb (of Art Prostitute and The Public Trust) at the Magnolia Gallery, some of which are likely to make a new home with me.

Which of the following describes this MACRODON?
a) MACRODON with two "lower extremities".
(though, where is the upper body, or head? does it have one?)
b) 2 MACRODONs conjoined (at the head?).
c) MACRODON bending down, "upper body" and "lower body"
are seemingly identical, making them indistinguishable.

047
this is the first of three illustrations today.
this MACRODON also seemed part of the evolution sequence,
so I colored it and added it to post # 040.
it does also look like Cousin Itt (of The Addams Family)

042
this one is kind of gross looking.
it has a sort-of-insect-larvae-maggot appearance.
I think it's because of the legs, maybe.
