hah! I am not going to attempt to sculpt this texture,
although awesome... too time consuming for now...

and failed with this:

this just looks like a bad sketch for the bark textures seen a few posts ago...





So, I sketched out some lines in Photoshop with my drawing tablet from this scan/composite:

using the exact same texture, and I think it turned out o.k.)
